Melcom presents fully stuffed Double Door Fridge to outstanding Police Officer

The Humanitarian Arm of the Melcom Group of Companies has presented an award to an outstanding Police Officer discovered by The City Police Column published in2021 edition of Police Diary, which focuses on Accra Region Command.

Inspector, Theophilus Ayi Anang was identified and described in the latest edition of Police Diary  under the broader theme: ‘Policing the National Capital, 2021’ as “The Police Officer with a Golden Heart” received a fully stuffed with consumables Double Door Fridge worth thousands of Ghana Cedis from Melcom at a short ceremony held in Accra on September 9, 2012.

Godwin Avenorgbo, Group Director, responsible for Communications, applauded the Police for restoring sanity on the road and the swift apprehension of armed robbers. He observed that “last few week, the Ghana Police Service is proving that the institution knows what it is about. The evidence is clear, action is being taken against reckless driving on our city roads and in particular, effective checking of drivers of some so-called big men”. The well-known broadcaster encouraged the men in the uniform to continue to exhibit professionalism when dealing with the public.

He assured that “the Ghana Police Service is in the good books of Melcom Care Foundation and we will do the best we can to associate with your projects for the good of Ghana and Ghanaians”.

According to him, “Ghana’s claim to be a peaceful nation would be given a big boost if we celebrate our Men and Women in uniform who devote themselves to providing services in favour of public safety and security”.

“As a flourishing business enterprise in Ghana, we believe that Peace and Security are two essential ingredients among others which would serve as motivation for increased investment with its benefits at the national level in terms of Service delivery, convenient shopping, affordable goods, and services, increasing employment for qualified Ghanaian Youth and Physical development Social cohesion among others.

The Director-General of the Public Affairs Department of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kwesi Ofori, expressed profound gratitude to Melcom for supporting the police in diverse ways. He however, reiterated the Service’s commitment to making the City of Accra and other big cities safe by dealing with miscreants and recalcitrant drivers.

ACP Ofori said, the IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is ready to do more to satisfy the wishes and aspirations of Ghanaians.

According to him, the Police now have capacity to police the roads and cities electronically, as such they are determined to bring sanity to the roads in order “to reduce accidents on our roads in recent times”.

The outgoing Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afia Tengey, noted that, “The Police Column has unearthed another industrious police officer, who has dedicated his life to making tremendous impact in the lives of police personnel in the entire country”.

“The City Police Column could not have fallen on a more diligent and a deserving police officer in this edition than the zealous Inspector, Theophilus Ayi Anang, affectionately called Cordii or Class Pee. Inspector Theophilus Ayi Anang has an indisputable passion for what he does and derives a sense of satisfaction in putting smiles on the faces of those who have been affected by unfortunate circumstances of life”.

Inspector Anang hails from Osu, a suburb of Accra. He was enlisted into the Ghana Police Service in 2003 and passed out from the Ho Police Training School, Volta Region. Inspector Anang was posted to the Wenchi Police Station, now Ahafo region, where he worked as a plain-clothed officer with the station’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID). Due to his diligence, he has served and gained experience in areas including Sunyani Regional CID, Nsawkaw, Banda Ahenkro, Bechem, and Prampram.
