Re: Petition to Arrest and Prosecute Richard Takyi-Mensah and Two Head Teachers over School Feeding Fraud
I want to categorically state without any equivocation that, I, Kofi Acquah, the Headteacher of Tayido M/A Basic School, have never engaged in any fraudulent deal
My attention has been drawn to a news item publication on several online news portals which suggests that the powers of the Police CID has been invoked to arrest and prosecute my good self and two others over what the publications describe as School Feeding Fraud. In the said publication, a certain petition has been submitted to the Director General of the Police CID and the Inspector General of Police to this effect.
I want to categorically state without any equivocation that, I, Kofi Acquah, the Headteacher of Tayido M/A Basic School, have never engaged in any fraudulent deal, and I have not had any form of discussion or relationship with Mr. Richard Takyi-Mensah whom The Hawk Newspaper alleged to have used my school’s name to receive some monies from the Ghana School Feeding Programme. My school, Tayido M/A Basic School, is not and has never been a beneficiary of the Ghana School Feeding Programme since its introduction. Hence it would be complete wickedness for me to connive with anyone in whichever way and form to draw such huge sums of money from the national coffers at the expense of the innocent pupils of Tayido M/ A Basic School. This allegation, as far as I am concerned, is completely baseless.
I also want to state clearly that the petitioner, David Forthgill Bentil, indeed contacted me some couple of months ago wanting to know whether Tayido M/A Basic School was a beneficiary of the School Feeding Programme or not. I declined any comments because I did not find any basis for the kinds of questions he asked me. Again, I as the Headteacher is not answerable to just anybody who walks into the school with questions, especially when I was not
well informed on what he sought at the time. I find it completely shocking that he misinterpreted my silence as guilt in any form.
With the foregoing notwithstanding, I want to assure my family, friends, teachers, pupils and loved ones that, I Kofi Acquah, have never engaged in any fraud whatsoever. I am a clean Headteacher working in the interest of the innocent pupils of Tayido M/A Basic School. I will never indulge in anything that will tarnish my hard-earned reputation and my innocence. I am certain the truth shall be established through the investigations of the Police CID. I accordingly welcome any investigations by the Police CID and will fully submit myself to any kind of query or enquiries as the Police CID may deem fit for unravelling the truth in these allegations. I am fully prepared to honour any invitation from the Police CID to prove my innocence of the allegation levelled against me, because I have a name and a family to protect.
Signed
KOFI ACQUAH
