Ashanti police confirms arrest of man who reportedly knifed pregnant wife to death
Maxwell Boadi, 44, has been on police wanted list after he became a person of interest in connection with the gruesome murder of Priscilla Owusu, aka Betty, on October 16.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of the man said to have stabbed his pregnant wife to death in the Kwadaso suburb of Nyankyrenease.
Maxwell Boadi, 44, has been on police wanted list after he became a person of interest in connection with the gruesome murder of Priscilla Owusu, aka Betty, on October 16.
He was however arrested by police at the Kodie District Command after days of serious manhunt, according to spokesperson for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo.
“As we speak he has been handed over to the Suntreso District Command to assist police investigations”, he added.
Residents of Nyankyrenease are still in shock as some narrate, the horrifying scene happened in the presence of the couple’s six-year-old child.
Betty’s untimely death adds to the new wave of spousal abuse in the country.
While many believe it is a clear case of mental health crisis, others want tightened laws to deal with the culprits.
