Martyrs Day of Democracy: United Cadres Front of the NDC urges Government to speed up investigations, else…
“The NPP has always demonstrated the ‘All die be die’ mantra posited by their President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and this has become their political philosophy"
The Tema Region branch of the United Cadres Front (UCF) – A Group affiliated to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the President Nana Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government to speed up investigations into the killings that happened last year in the cause of the 2020 General elections.
They said it is long overdue for the Ghana Police Service and the government to have concluded investigations into the killings that took place in some of the Constituencies on voting day where about eight people were gruesomely murdered.
At a press conference in Tema on Wednesday December 8, 2021 on the “heinous crimes perpetuated against harmless innocent Ghanaians” dubbed ‘Martyrs Day of Democracy’, Chairman of the UCF, Oliver Agbenyo-Ahiafor demanded justice so as to bring peace to the souls of the departed while bringing joy to the bereaved families.
They are calling for the immediate arrest of the violent thugs that inflicted pains on the eight men and women who died painfully.
Chairman Agbenyo-Ahiafor said “if this arrest and prosecutions are not done, we will consider this as an abdication of the responsibility of the police administration and by extension the Government. We will have no other option than to mobilize our members to demand justice for the victims”.
While calling on the Police and the Government to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crimes to book before the next general elections expected in 2024, the group sent a strong signal to the Government and its state sponsored vigilantes that “we will be battle ready to respond in multiple measures if these thugery and violence reoccurs in the 2024 elections”.
“We condemned and still condemn in no uncertain terms these incidents. It is worth noting that these thuggeries were done by state sponsored security.”
“The NPP has always demonstrated the ‘All die be die’ mantra posited by their President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and this has become their political philosophy,” he alleged.
“The NPP Government has succeeded in making itself the worst Government ever in the history of Ghana, by sponsoring the killings of eight persons in an election related clashes”.
The eight, according to them are: Emmanuel Dompreh 36, Odododiodo, Ibrahim Abass 30, Ablekuma Central, Abdallah Ayaric 18, Techiman South, Zakaria Samira 14, Savelugu, Botwe Tackie 19, Awutu-Senya West, Tajudeen Alhassan 39, Techiman South, Fuseini Musah 14, Savelugu and Rita Otoo 15 Odododiodo
