According to the petition sited by ghananewsonline.com.gh and dated September 17, 2021, the car, a Chinese pick up, Dongfeng with registration number 914-10, had been in the custody of the Mallam Police since September 14, 2020 pending investigations.

Strangely enough, the car got mysteriously missing from the station on June 4, 2021, and all efforts to trace it have proved futile as the commander of the Station, Chief Inspector Asamaning has kept stone silence over the issue.

The petition indicates that on September 7, 2020, the Chief was on his way to the Odorkor police station with a police extract from the Mallam police.

On reaching the Mallam market Police post at the Mallam Junction, he was attacked by a mob believed to be led by one Pampamku and one Abass Baba, and in the process the windscreen of his car was smashed by the mob, he was dragged out of the car and beaten to pulp by his attackers, and for the timely intervention of the police he would have been killed by his attackers there and then.

The petition states that from there the car was towed to the Mallam Lafa Police Station whiles investigations were ongoing.

According to the petition, on June 4th 2021, the chief had information that his car could not be traced at the police station any longer and the chief went to verify, his information was confirmed.

However, when he inquire from the police Officer, Asamaning, he was dead silent. All the he gathered from sources that the car has been sent to Odonkor Police Station for an auction exercise but cheeks from the station also proved frustrating as the commander of the station Mr. Apenteng and the crime Officer all denied knowledge of the missing car.

In his quack mire therefore, he has decided to petition the IGP for help.

It was gathered that copies of the petition have been sent to the Minister of Interior, the Minister for National Security, The commanders of the Odorkor and Mallam Lafa Police Stations.
