Motorists, other Road Users cautioned against Indiscipline during this Christmas Season

The Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) has cautioned all types of road users in the country to eschew acts of lawlessness and indiscipline on the roads during this festive season in order to avoid the numerous accidents that usually characterizes the yuletide.
National chairman of PROTOA Benjamin Agorsu Katsekpor gave the caution in an exclusive interview with the ghananewsonline.com.gh in Aflao this weekend.
According to him, the numerous road carnages happening across the country can be avoided if road users including drivers, passengers, pedestrians as well as “okada” riders obey all road traffic regulations and exercise patience while going about their daily routines.
Mr Katsekpor observed that due to the rush to convey passengers to their destinations and the desire to cash in on the large number of commuters traveling to various parts of the country to celebrate the festive season with their loved ones, most drivers ignore or flout road signs and other traffic regulations resulting invariably in the carnages witnessed on our roads on a daily basis.
He advised drivers to ignore any passenger who forces them to over speed in other to get them to their destinations faster adding that “we should do our best to avoid over speeding, wrong overtaking, drunk-driving to ensure an accident free yuletide”.
Mr Katsekpor’s caution comes in the wake of the overwhelming and increasing number of accidents recorded in the last quarter of 2021 alone which ushered in the yuletide and Christmas season compelling the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), the Driver and Vehicular Licensing Authority (DVLA) and the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) to jointly organize series of road safety campaigns for stakeholders across the country.
The idea is to drive home the need to observe all road signs and traffic regulations to ensure an accident free festive season.
