This is how Sam George predicted Chris Hughton will be named Black Stars coach

“That job has been given to Chris Hughton already. They’ve given it to him because they want someone they can manipulate. Someone they can use for their business. Someone whose selections they can interfere with. Let’s not waste our time. People are using GFA to feed their families so let’s go and look for money to eat.”

In January 2023, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George caused a stir in footballing circles.

In an interview with Accra-based Joy Prime, he predicted that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) had handed the vacant Black Stars coaching job to Chris Hughton.

He said despite the public search for the next coach, the GFA had already arrived at the decision to name the former Newcastle United manager as the next coach.

The outspoken MP also launched a scathing attack on the country’s football governing body insisting it has been reduced to a business venture.

A section of the footballing populace counter-attacked him for making those projections and questioned his locus.

Several weeks after those claims, the GFA in a statement on Sunday, February 12, 2023, announced the appointment of Chris Hughton as the new head coach of the Black Stars following extensive deliberations between the two parties.

In reaction to the announcement, the Ningo-Prampram MP said:

“This Country called Ghana eh, may God just continue to give us grace.
When I said this decision was done about a month ago, they wanted my head for breakfast. Well, in the words of Fabrizio Romano, Here We Go! 🦁🇬🇭🤷🏾‍♂️
