A statement signed by the party’s Regional Secretary, James Gunu, said, the theme chosen for the just ended 66th Independence Day anniversary, “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose,” can only resonate well with all Ghanaians especially the people of the Volta region, if President Akufo-Addo used the occasion to apologize to the people of the region.

According to the statement, the ruling NPP government’s poor performance in the last six years has rendered the Independence Day celebration completely meaningless.

“It is obvious that the unprecedented bad governance, unimaginable level of corruption and the incredible high cost of living is eroding the joy and enthusiasm that ordinarily goes with our Independence Day celebrations,” the statement read.
