Suhum: NDC Parliamentary Candidates walk for Victory

Suhum Constituency of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region joined millions of Christians worldwide to mark this year’s Palm Sunday to promote peace among Parliamentary Aspirants ahead of the primaries scheduled for May 13.

The Health Walk jointly organized by both the youth and the women wings was themed ‘a walk with Parliamentary Aspirants: Unifying our front for victory 2024’. It was also used to foster unity and comradeship now, during and before the Regional vetting held at Suhum in the first week of April 2023.

Hundreds of NDC supporters joined by the Constituency and Regional Executives clouded in NDC paraphernalia used about three hours to match from the Party Office-Ampomsah Market through the township including the Accra-Kumasi Highways and converged at the Accra Main Lorry Station where they were addressed by various speakers.

Constituency Chairman, Richard Afasi, noted that the choice of “Palm Sunday was to showcase the unity that exists between the aspirants and the executive body”. He declared the week as NDC week since Suhum is playing host to the Regional vetting.

He further charged party-supporters to attend branch meetings regularly and take the NDC to the doorsteps of people ahead of the 2024 general elections.

On his part, The Eastern Regional Chairman, Dr. Mark Oliva Kevor, used the occasion to remind aspirants of the fact that, only one person will be declared the winner on May 13, however, the rest of them must join the winner to work “for us to take this seat”.

He revealed how aspirants were made to sign bonds to remain in the party and campaign, and at the end of it all, each one of them will be accordingly rewarded when the party wins power,…. “at the Koforidua meeting we recognized you as stakeholders”.

Former MCE for the area and currently, a member of the National Communications Team, Margarete Ansei also known as Mago, promised to help the elected parliamentary candidate to undertake a “house-to-house and room-to-room” victory campaign. She congratulated the aspirants for promoting unity at all levels.

Five persons have successfully filed and undergone vetting to contest the parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NDC. They include Richard Yermoh, Otuo Kofi Adjei, Sammy Bruce Nyarko, Rev. James Batsa Offoe, and Prince Kwadwo Addo
