Raphael Dwamena had a notable football career, including a proposed £14m move to Brighton in 2017, which unfortunately fell through after a medical issue.

He later played for Levante in La Liga and Real Zaragoza on loan. In 2021, he collapsed during a cup match in Austria but recovered and continued his playing career.

Dwamena had reportedly undergone a heart operation and had an automatic defibrillator implanted.

Levante, where Dwamena had previously played, shared their condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with his family and his loved ones in these difficult moments. His legacy in our club will last forever.” Zaragoza also paid tribute, saying, “We are devastated by the sad news of the passing of our former player Raphael Dwamena. You will always be in the memory of Zaragoza´s fans. Rest in peace.”

The Ghanaian football community, as well as fans worldwide, are mourning the loss of a talented striker, and Dwamena’s contributions to the sport will be remembered.
