The Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong has cautioned Ghanaians not to vote for former President John Dramani Mahama because he will return Ghana to economic slavery.

The maverick politician said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not deserve the chance to return to power since they are bound to make Ghanaians suffer and deprive them of the gains made under President Akufo-Addo.

He said the incompetence of Mahama brought untold hardship on Ghanaians, took Ghana to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

‘Some Ghanaians keep describing Nana Addo as an old man yet he is an old man who has stabilised the economy, created jobs for the unemployed youth.’

He said: ”if you don’t help Nana Addo to win 2020, Mahama will return and sell Ghana to the Europeans.”

He touted the free SHS policy as a major transformational policy helping deprived people have access to quality education without paying fees.

”You [Mahama] benefitted from free SHS and yet, you want to deprive other children of benefitting from the policy. Stop saying you have not benefitted from the NPP, and assess the performance of Nana. You will regret voting for Mahama,” he said.

He made the remarks at the party’s national rally organised over the weekend on Sunday, December 22, 2019.

Ghanaians will regret should they vote for the NDC and Mahama as president, he stressed.

Mr. Mahama suffered a “humiliating” defeat in the 2016 general election to his opponent Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with a record 44% of total valid votes cast as against 53%, the worst loss in Ghana’s political history by an incumbent.

Among the reasons generally assigned as causes of Mahama-led administration’s historic defeat in 2016 are corruption, mismanagement and poor handling of the economy and energy sectors which resulted in ‘dumsor’, to wit, unstable power supply.
