Kyekyewere Accident: 3 Police Officers Dead, I Injured

The Ghana Police Service has been thrown into a state of mourning following the death of three police officers in an accident at Kyekyewere, near Suhum in the Eastern Region, on the Accra – Kumasi Highway.
The Formed Police Unit (FPU) officers along with one other who narrowly escaped death but sustained some injuries were on their way for Police operational duties on March 27, 2024, when the tragic incident occurred.
It is reported that their vehicle plunged into a nearby bush after skidding off the highway and somersaulting, ripping off the doors of the vehicle.
The deceased officers have been identified as Chief Inspector Michael Adzaho, PW Inspector Theresa Zampiah and General Corporal Emmanuel Asamoah.
The injured officer also identified as General Corporal Samuel Jude Koufie is currently receiving medical attention.
Family members of the deceased officers were informed about the incident as well as their colleagues at the FPU.
A statement released by the Police on Thursday morning read, “In line with our tradition, members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) visited the families of the deceased officers to formally inform and commiserate with them.
“The Inspector General of Police, who personally led some POMAB members to the FPU to formally inform personnel of the Unit about the tragic incident and Interact with them, spoke on the phone with family members of the three (3) deceased personnel.”
