I am writing this on 3rd January, and given that it’s only three days before the new parliament is inaugurated and the announcement of the person to be the Speaker is made, I am under no illusion that the decision would have been made already. However, even if the decision has been made and it is not this former Attorney General and MP, the decision-makers should reconsider.

In my humble view, Dr. Benjamin Bewa-Nyog Kunbuor’s extensive experience in public service, law, and governance makes him an exemplary candidate for the position of Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament. His distinguished career as a legal scholar, parliamentarian, and minister equips him with the skills and temperament necessary to lead and unify Ghana’s legislative body.
