The Vice President and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has said that retaining the NPP in government would be more beneficial to Ghanaians than voting the NDC to power.

He says the next NPP administration which will be spearheaded by himself, has outlined policies that will better the living conditions of the citizens and also support businesses to grow.

Dr. Bawumia says the policies he has mapped out will holistically address the economic challenges currently confronting the country and promote development.

Speaking at the Kaneshie Market as part of his tour to the Greater Accra region Wednesday, September 04, 2024, Dr. Bawumia explained that his flat rate tax policy and tax amnesty will ameliorate the challenges importers face including the scuffle they usually have with the Ghana Revenue Authority.

He revealed that the SME bank stated in the NPP’s manifesto will be women-focused to support them with loans to grow their businesses.

He further highlighted on his intent to scrap import duty on mobile phones, extend driving licence validity to 10 years, abolish the e-levy and train the youth in digital skills.

He said the former President and flag bearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, will be the wrong person to vote for since his remaining four-year term will not allow him to go back and account to them as he would.

“We are introducing a new directive to reform the import regime at the Port, including a flat tax policy in cedis, applicable to all goods, making Ghana’s import duty comparable to or lower than Togo’s. We are also launching a women’s bank, an SME bank dedicated to supporting women traders with financial assistance for their businesses.

“Additionally, we are introducing a tax amnesty to avoid confusion with the Ghana Revenue Authority and eliminating import duty on mobile phones.

“Furthermore, we will extend the validity of driving licences to 10 years, abolish the e-levy, and provide digital skills training for the youth. If you vote for former President John Dramani Mahama, he will only be accountable for four years. However, if you vote for me, I will have the opportunity to be accountable to you for a longer period,” he pointed out.
