A/R: NPP endorses Andrew Amoako Asiamah as parliamentary candidate for Fomena

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially endorsed the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Andrew Amoako Asiamah, as its Parliamentary Candidate for the Fomena Constituency in the 2024 elections.

This decision was unanimously reached at the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

The announcement was made by the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, who praised Mr Asiamah for the remarkable support he has given the party. Mr Asiamah is currently serving as the independent Member of Parliament for Fomena but has been welcomed back into the NPP fold.

Chairman Wontumi expressed confidence that with Mr Asiamah as the candidate, the NPP would reclaim the Fomena seat in the upcoming elections.

He commended Mr Asiamah for his unwavering dedication and support, which he said had helped to enhance the party’s standing in Parliament.

“Having him return to his roots is not just business as usual; it is a clear signal of victory for the constituency and for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” said Chairman Wontumi, emphasizing the strategic importance of Asiamah’s return.

In response to the endorsement, Mr Andrew Amoako Asiamah expressed his joy at rejoining the party that he holds dear to his heart.

He pledged to lead the NPP to a historic landslide victory in Fomena, both for himself and for the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“I have missed everything about this party, and I am ready to work tirelessly to secure a great win for the NPP,” Asiamah stated.

He also called on party members and local leaders to put aside any past differences and unite for the greater good of the party.

Mr Asiamah urged them to campaign vigorously, particularly by highlighting the ongoing development projects in the constituency, to garner more votes for the NPP.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman’s visit to the Fomena constituency included stops in various communities such as Adokwai, Dompoase, and Old Edubiase, where he engaged with local residents. Chairman Wontumi underscored the importance of retaining the NPP in power come December 7, 2024, and rallied the constituents to support the party’s candidate.
