Abena Osei Asare Commissions Projects in her Constituency

It was with pump and pageantry that the Honorable Member of Parliament (MP) for the Atiwa East constituency, Abena Osei Asare, commissioned a number of projects in her constituency over the weekend.

Comprising Education and Health facilities, toilets, Astro Park among others, the chiefs and people were full of praises for the MP, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The MP commissioned three (3) 10-seater water closet (WC) toilet facilities at Ayigbe Town in Anyinam, Adasewase and New Jejeti. At Adesewese, the MP further commissioned a Kindergarten (KG) for the Presbyterian school.

The Presiding Member of Atiwa District Assembly, Hon. Obeng Asamoah, who represented the District Chief Executive (DCE) lawyer Kwabena Nkansah Panyin thanked the MP for the facilities and called on the people to ensure that they are properly catered for and maintained. He praised the MP and the government for fulfilling most of their election promises, describing them as promise keepers.

Hon. Abena Osei Asare, who is also a Deputy Minister for Finance while thanking the people for their support all this while, urged them to rally massively behind her and the government to give them a second term to enable them meet the demands of the people. She pointed out that above all the fulfillments of the government promises, the President had delivered Ambulances for all Constituencies throughout the country. This, she said will provide job opportunities for drivers and paramedics.

Education

At Akyem Sekyere, Hon. Abena Osei Asare stated that she had been able to provide the S.D.A Senior High School with 41 computers to furnish their I.C.T block. Also through her efforts, she had been able to provide the school with light, while also completing their girls dormitory with her Getfund.

Commissioning the KG at Adesewese, the NPP organizer for the constituency, Hon. Kofi Donkor thanked the MP and her government for the facility as well as the 10-seater WC toilet facility. He charged the people to do well to maintain the facility for now and posterity.

On her part Mad. Victoria Dakoraa Bampo, District Director of Education for Atiwa East, thanked the MP for the facility. She pointed out that though she had not been there for long, she was witness to the numerous educational facilities that the MP had provided for the people.

She indicated that the BECE results for the year was not encouraging since it was around 30%. However, with these facilities, she was of the hope that it would raise to 50% this year, and 100% in subsequent years. She pointed out that with K.G, teaching at the primary level has been facilitated.

The MP stated that since the President Nana Akufo-Addo was bent on raising education in the country, it was her duty too to follow suit. It was against this background that she had provided the community with a KG school, pointing out that besides providing Ghana with the free S.H.S programme, the president also has K.Gas start school in this regard.

Also the MP is yet to commission five (5) health facilities comprising chip compounds and clinics. Also, a six-unit classroom block at Akyem Mampong, Ahakresu and Subriso; with the one at Seyere underway. What is outstanding is that in all these KGs there are toilet facilities where children can be  washed, rest rooms as well as offices and toilet facilities for teachers; so that they would not compete with students over these facilities. The MP pointed out that prior to the Free S.H.S programme, she used to spend GH¢200,000 on students each year. But now with the programme in place, she spends GH¢60,000 each year on tertiary students.

On health, Hon. Abena Osei Asare has put up a 20-bed facility at Anyinam, the District capital. Also she has put up a new clinic at New Jejeti to replace the old one that was set up at a swampy area. According to the MP, since health is worth, she intends to improve the health of her constituents to improve their lives.

School feeding

According to the MP, before 2017, the number of schools with school feeding programme were three (3). However, since 2017, when she came care into the picture, she has been able to increase it to 32, thus covering all government schools in the district. She pointed out that with Nana Addo’s vision of “No One should be left out in education” she intends to follow suit to the later.

Among personalities at these commissioning were Hon. Nana Ofobi Afrakoma, Queen mother of Akyem Sekyere, the DCE for Atiwa East, Hon. Layer Kwabena Nkasa Panin and Presiding Member, Hon. Obeng Asamoah. They were all full of praises for President Nana Akufo-Addo and his NPP administration.
