ABORSCO Commissions New Boys Dormitory Block

The Abor Senior High Technical School (ABORSCO), has commissioned a newly constructed Boys’ Dormitory Block for the School.

The facility comes with 12 rooms, including TV rooms, ironing place, washing place, toilets, bath rooms, and 2 chamber and hall self-contained rooms for use of the two House Masters.

At the ceremony, the Headmaster of the School, Raymond Letsah Glover, pointed out some challenges facing the School and are likely to affect teaching and learning.

According to him, the School lacks basic infrastructure in view of the number of students, and the courses they run as a School,

“Abor SHS is the oldest school on the northern side of the Keta lagoon, however, at the age of 36, counting from the period of absorption into the Public Second Cycle System, Aborsco has very little to show in terms of infrastructure; namely, Dormitories, Assembly Hall, Science Laboratory, ICT Lab, Library, Bungalows, etc”.

He also lamented the fact that, the newly built facility has no beds and mattresses which will enable them to make immediate use of the facility,

“we are just about to take over, there is an urgent need for these items, without these items, it will be difficult for us to use the place”.

Letsah Glover also used the occasion to commend The Municipal Chief Officer of The Area for releasing The Grader and The Operator for them to construct a football field.

He therefore appealed to The MCE to lobby for more projects for The School in order for it to meet its infrastructural and other needs with the stress that, “over the years, it appears our messages and requests find it easy to cross The Keta Lagoon from The North to The South, but the requests get lost in The Lagoon on their way back to Abor. Hon. MCE, I hope this time our requests will be fitted with some life-saving jackets for their safe arrival at their destination”.
