The Presidency has reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring accountability for officials of the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration who are alleged to have misappropriated state resources.
Mustapha Gbande, Deputy Director in charge of Operations at the Presidency, underscored the firm stance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on prosecuting individuals involved in corruption. “President Mahama remains resolute in his commitment to justice, and the party fully supports him in fulfilling the mandate given by Ghanaians, including prosecuting those responsible for plundering the nation’s resources,” Gbande stated.

He further cautioned the NPP that no individual, irrespective of their position, would be exempt from legal scrutiny. Gbande emphasized that if deemed necessary, even former President Akufo-Addo could face legal consequences, including house arrest. He assured that the NDC would follow due process within the legal framework established by the NPP and advised against any opposition to lawful proceedings.

The Deputy Director accused the previous administration of widespread corruption and vowed that legal action would be taken against all implicated individuals, including former President Akufo-Addo. “I can confidently state that they have exploited the nation’s resources. Under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, his appointees engaged in the blatant looting of public funds. Soon, the truth will be exposed, and justice will prevail. No one, including Nana Akufo-Addo, will be shielded from accountability,” Gbande affirmed.
The NDC’s firm stance underscores its commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring that those who mismanaged public funds face the full force of the law.
