Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in the Accra Metropolitan District, Micheal Agbozo has said that the impacts of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic on the operations of the scheme has been telling, as it has resulted in the slow pace of events at the scheme.
Mr. Agbozo who is responsible for the activities of the National Service Persons (NSP) was on Pan African TV last Saturday where he lamented the negative impact the outbreak of the pandemic has had on their activities. He said it became worse when the directive came for many of the personnel of the scheme to stay at home .
Asked of his thoughts on the call by Managers of the scheme for the return of the National Service Personnel to resume work, he said “It is not a bad call, but I plead on personnel’s behalf that, the National Service Scheme should partner user agencies to operationalize a shift system to enhance proper observation of social distancing protocols at the various institutions of endeavour”. This according to Mr Agbozo when added will help reduce frequent human contacts.
He suggested to the management of the scheme to help provide face masks and hand sanitizers at vantage places for the use of the personnel. He also made a strong case for the personnel when he called for the leadership of the scheme to initiate interim measures that would give personnel the opportunity to submit their evaluation forms online.
He hinted Pan African TV that, the executive body of NASPA has petitioned the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over an ‘NSS cloth Saga’ and that they are awaiting official response. This he believes is in the best interest of all National Service Personnel within and beyond the Accra Metropolitan District.
He encouraged national service personnel to observe the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the World Health Organization (WHO) protocols so as to keep safe.
