The NDC Damongo Constituency parliamentary Candidate, Hon.Adam Mutawakilu a.k.a Garlus has allegedly assaulted an Electoral Commission Returning Officer whose name has been given as Mr Adams during the ongoing security services voter transfer exercise in Damongo.

It took the intervention of the security agencies to bring the situation under control as many people wondered why the former Member of Parliament for the second time is always finding it tough with both the security and the electoral officers anytime he visits the offices of the Electoral Commission.

According to an eyewitness, a lady police officer was at the center for the exercise of the voter transfer with her identification card even though she was not in uniform.

Unconfirmed reports indicates that the E.C official has been taken to the Damongo District Hospital while Hon. Garlus is being interrogated by the security services.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting a voter transfer exercise for prison inmates, security personnel and students from July 3 to 5, 2024.

The Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Corporate Services, Dr Bossman Asare, disclosed this to the Daily Graphic after an Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra yesterday.

He said the exercise would allow prison inmates to transfer their votes to the constituencies where they were being held, while security personnel who missed the previous transfer window would have the opportunity to also transfer their votes.
