The National Youth Authority (NYA) under the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) and the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) have jointly advised young people in the municipality to embrace innovative and entrepreneurial skills to help minimize the rate of unemployment in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic.
The young people were asked to be creative and innovative in all aspect of their lives to enable them to become self-employed rather than going round seeking white-colour jobs.
Addressing participants at a youth training forum held in Adenta, the Head of Business Advisory Centre under NBSSI at the Adentan Municipality, Jemima Arthur educated the young people on the various innovative ventures and entrepreneurial development skills that can lead them to better self-employment.
She urged the young people to tap into the current skills development agenda under the government’s entrepreneur initiatives in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that, creating new ideas and being innovative in times like this, can boost employment in the country.

“The world is becoming like a global village which all the youth must develop a basic idea to tap into it,” she stated.
Jemima Arthur further advised young people to improve upon the already existing ideas, products, marketing strategy, branding of packages and be competitive enough to meet the global industries.
“The youth must be up to the task and should not be left behind and must not allow cost to distract them from being innovative or creative because, through their efforts, they can rather earn extra income from it,” she noted.
She again encouraged young people to research into their innovations and ideas before embarking into such productive thoughts in order not to fail in those thoughts and new ideas.
The Regional Director of NYA, Mathias Blay, encouraged the youth to enter into skills training after tertiary education that would enable them to become self-employed rather seeking for office jobs.
“The government has recently resourced both the NYA and the NBSSI to improve on the lives of the youth through the roll-out of the Skills Towards Employment and Productivity (STEP) programme which all the youth in the country must channel their ideas towards,” he said.
He, therefore, tasked the youths of Adentan to take calculated risks, have a vision and indulge in entrepreneurship as a means of creating employment for other youth who show a dynamic path for nation-building.
The Minority Leader for Adentan Youth Parliament, Ephraim Quartey, called on young people in the municipality to join the NYA programme that ensures the building of new ideas and becoming innovative for a better future.
He outlined some challenges such as lack of public awareness and media engagements faced by the youth Parliament due to the inability to create a larger platform that can involve all the youth in the municipality. He said they are working assiduously with the NYA to address those issues.
Participants at the event lauded the Assembly for organizing such an educative forum to propel them to be more creative and improve on their innovative ideas and skills development.
