Afenyo-Markin lied about theft in Governor Addison’s House

According to the Government, claims that security operatives took away CCTV cameras from Dr. Addison’s residence are completely false. Additionally, allegations that an amount of GHS10,000 was stolen during the operation have been described as "ridiculous."

The Government of Ghana has strongly dismissed allegations made by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and his opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) regarding an alleged theft at the residence of former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.

According to the Government, claims that security operatives took away CCTV cameras from Dr. Addison’s residence are completely false. Additionally, allegations that an amount of GHS10,000 was stolen during the operation have been described as “ridiculous.”

Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, addressing the media today, clarified that the only items seized during the operation were hard drives. He further emphasized that the search and seizure were carried out under the authorization of the appropriate legal agencies.

Dr. Ayine challenged the Minority Leader to desist from spreading misinformation, warning that if Afenyo-Markin persists, he may be forced to release video evidence exposing the falsehoods surrounding the claims.

The controversy has sparked debates over the legality and transparency of government actions, but officials maintain that due process was followed in the investigative procedures involving the former BoG Governor.
