Afenyo-Markin Reaffirms Support for Winneba Youth Choir, Says Efforts Are Non-Political

Speaking at the Choir’s annual Easter concert, dubbed Inspiration of Hope—an event held in his honour—Mr. Afenyo-Markin commended the Choir for its remarkable contribution to the cultural identity of Winneba. He noted that through its performances, both locally and internationally, the Choir has significantly elevated the image of the town.

“My focus is to promote the Winneba Youth Choir without any political consideration,” he stated.

During the event, the Choir presented the MP with a citation in recognition of his continuous support and contribution to their development.

The Administrator of the Winneba Youth Choir, Mr. Jeffrey Daniel Amoah, used the occasion to appeal to the MP for additional support through the establishment of a dedicated scholarship scheme tailored to the educational needs of choir members. While acknowledging the MP’s general scholarship initiative, he emphasized the importance of a specialized scheme to help members access opportunities in global music education and careers.

“The choral music industry is vast and dynamic. It is important for our members to pursue further learning to fully explore both the artistic and commercial sides of their talent,” Mr. Amoah explained.

He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Afenyo-Markin for his support during the Choir’s recent trip to the Republic of Malta, where the MP covered accommodation and feeding expenses for the group.
