Afram Plains: Woman delivers baby boy in bush
Two nurses, Amos Acheampong, a staff nurse, and Ruby Amenuveve, a community health nurse rushed to the bush to help with the delivery.
Two nurses at Agyata, a farming community in the Afram Plains South District delivered a pregnant woman of her baby in the bush on Monday morning.
At about 9:15 am, a companion of the labouring woman rushed to the Agyata CHPS compound to report that the woman had gone into labour in the bush.
Two nurses, Amos Acheampong, a staff nurse, and Ruby Amenuveve, a community health nurse rushed to the bush to help with the delivery.
Upon arrival the baby had crowned, thus they helped the woman deliver on the bare floor.
She delivered a bouncy baby boy.
Following her safe delivery, she was transported on a motorbike for full maternal and newborn care.
Both mother and child are doing well and are under close observation at the CHPs compound.
The Afram Plains area is known for roadside and bush deliveries due to deplorable and inaccessible roads.
