Ghanaian-American Archbishop, Kofi Adonteng Boateng, has called for greater discipline within the pastoral ministry.

He asserted that many pastors, particularly African pastors, are exploiting the name of God to deceive people in the country. As a result, he emphasizes the need for religious training and the grooming of pastors to revamp the pastoral ministry and uphold the integrity of men of God in Ghana and throughout Africa.

Speaking to the media on October 7, 2024, he stated, “Today, if you are looking for one of the most corrupt groups in society, you will find pastors. African pastors, we are thieves; we are criminals. We want to take advantage of the people.

“Therefore, if any group comes together to bring discipline to the pastoral board, every concerned citizen must join that group because the excesses are too much,” he stated.

He expressed eagerness to be part of this pastoral organization, noting, “Pastors are traveling all over the world, and I cannot wait to be part of this initiative.”

In addition to his remarks on pastoral discipline, the archbishop advised caution as the country approaches the upcoming elections.

He urged the media and the public to be mindful of activities that could lead to conflict.

The pastoral conference will see pastors from around the world participating in discussions and training to improve their practices within the industry.
