AG rebuts claims of bias against Dafeamekpor’s suit ; says it’s unwarranted
“We have filed an affidavit in that matter. So I think all these comments are unwarranted and, indeed are baseless. We actually filed an affidavit to answer in the Richard Sky matter before this one.”
Minister for Justice and Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame has firmly rebutted allegations suggesting a lack of interest in legal challenges against the constitutionality of the Sexual Human Rights and Family Values Bill.
This response comes in the wake of accusations by the NDC over the decision of the Supreme Court to expedite the trial in the application by South Dayi MP, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, against the approval of ministerial and deputy ministerial nominees while the case against the anti-LGBTQ Bill filed earlier by Richard Sky is still pending before the court.
Addressing journalists in Accra on the decision by the Supreme Court to hear Rockson Dafeamekpor’s suit before Richard Sky’s, the Attorney-General dismissed criticisms of bias as unfounded and without merit.
He emphasized that his office had taken proactive steps by filing an affidavit in response to the matter at hand, underscoring the active engagement in legal proceedings.
