The Chiefs and people of Agotime Traditional Area in the Volta Region, through their Entertainment sub-committee of the 2024 Kente Festival  Planning Committee, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Fashion Department of the Ho Technical University (HTU).

The MoU provides for the University to partake in a fashion show and exhibition that would highlight the unique and innovative use of the Kente fabric, going beyond its traditional uses, at this year’s festival. The aim is to display the skills of the fashion design students, enhance the university’s fashion program, and select up to ten (10) students to showcase their works during the festival.

According to the MoU, the HTU is to oversee the involvement of the students in the design process and guarantee their attendance and readiness. The esteemed institution’s fashion department will verify that the designs of the students adhere to the theme of the event. It was also mutually agreed that the HTU grant permission to the Agotime Kente Festival Planning Committee to use the institution’s name and logo for promotional activities, among others.

The Entertainment Planning Committee of the 2024 Kente Festival aims to offer an exclusive platform for students of HTU to exhibit their designs, extend essential support and resources for the event, and guarantee effective promotion and acknowledgment of HTU’s involvement. Additionally, the committee is responsible for overseeing event logistics and coordination while providing the requisite equipment and facilities for the occasion.
