Agrihouse launches Agric Students Business Club in UG

Participation of student in the field of agriculture and agribusiness has further been bolstered with the launch of Agric. Student Business Club in the University of Ghana, Legon.

This is expected to ensure ease access to ready jobs and employment for the youth as student and as graduates.

The club is expected to provide students with seed funding and some farm materials to help them start up their own farms or preferred agribusiness.

Speaking at the launch of the AG-STUD Business Club, the CEO of Agrihouse Foundation, Ms. Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa said, “This Club would serve as a pre-requisite for participating schools in the AG-STUD boot camp, as it would also allow Agrihouse Foundation and other Stakeholders of the AG-STUD Africa to supervise the progress of the students and offer help after the event has come to an end.”

In view pf this, Mentors of the business pitch groups would be paired with the business clubs and will continuously groom the students for a year even after AG-STUD event, Ms. Akosa said.

The Business Club consist of a team of 15 students and officials, where it would be run as a business enterprise.

AG-STUD 2019

The 2019 edition of AG-STUD saw a total of 15 institutions in attendance. Activities at the event included field visit, mentorship, training and competition.

The event put together a group of students under a coach and a mentor, allowed them to select an aspect of Agrihouse, develop their business plan.

The 2020 edition would focus on encouraging the students to setup their own agribusiness and provide jobs and income for themselves and others.
