Agya Koo Hated Me- Mr Beautiful

Kumawood actor, Clement Bonney popularly known as Mr Beautiful has disclosed that Agya Koo, his colleague in the movie industry, developed hatred towards him out of fear that he will outshine him.

In an interview on Angel FM, the comic actor said a lot of factors including pride combined to subsequently dismantle the industry and leave it in the pathetic state it finds itself today.

“A lot of things transpired in our industry. A person like Agya Koo hated me.”

According to him, Agya Koo felt his fame and monopoly within the industry was a risk when he popped up in the scene.

“Agya Koo rose to fame and made the local movies popular. You can’t take it away from him. You can never take it away from Kofi but later pride set in. When he had to travel, he told everyone on the set to wait for him before the movie started. He withdrew whenever producers went against his wish. It went on and it was as a result of this that actors like us popped up because it got disheartening.

“Then Miracle came in for me. He paired me with Agya Koo as the lead actor. We already knew each other through the Concert Party. Kofi was happy to see me. We did the Mr Beautiful Movie {‘Sika Anibre’} alongside McBrown and it was so beautiful.”

He told the host the movie was immediately a hit and the next one was right ahead to be shot when Agya Koo demanded he get taken off the cast.

“After that, we had to do ‘Otoo Tabaa’. Agya Koo stated that he will not cast in the movie if I am not taken out. We needed somebody to be our parent and that was why Miracle shifted and went in for Kyeiwaa. It infuriated everyone but then it went on and on and on and on.”

He asserted that Agya Koo didn’t want him to fly on the wings of his fame as he felt he was a threat to the monopoly he was trying to build in the industry.

As a result, he said producers also decided to fashion his fall from fame.
