Ahotor Project has not been sabotaged – Aseidu Nketia
“In the meantime, there were press speculations about some of us, particularly our National Chairman, trying to sabotage the project and all that,Nothing of that sort is true,”
General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has dismissed speculations in the media that the Ahotor Project by Dr Kwabena Duffour was being sabotaged by party executives.
“In the meantime, there were press speculations about some of us, particularly our National Chairman, trying to sabotage the project and all that,” Mr Asiedu Nketia acknowledged at the launch of the project on Thursday, June 23.
“Nothing of that sort is true,” he insisted, however.
He explained that any party member who wishes to donate or embark on a project must do so to the larger benefit of the party.
So, he indicated that Dr Duffour’s project was a first of its kind for the party. Therefore, the necessary measures had to be taken to chart a course for similar projects in future, the reason why it was postponed.
The project was initially scheduled to be launched on Tuesday, June 7 but was cancelled at the last minute.
As a result, many felt there was a machination to stop the former Finance Minister in his tracks, considering the project launch as part of a grand aim to contest the party’s presidential primary.
Dr Duffour has since declared interest to lead the party in the 2024 polls much against massive approval for John Dramani Mahama, who has led the party in elections since 2012.
The Ahotor project was successfully launched at the party’s headquarters with some national executives including National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in attendance.
