Ahwiaa divisional police command allegedly charges GHS3,000 to discharge suspect

According to reports, the charge followed an arrest of three family members, two men and a woman who are said to have started farming on a portion of their family lands at Daa, a suburb also in the Bekwai Municipality today March 20,2024 .

The Divisional Police Command of Ahwiaa under the auspices of the Ashanti South Region in policing in Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region with their headquarters also at Bekwai,has allegedly charged GHS 3,000 to discharge two suspects.

According to reports, the charge followed an arrest of three family members, two men and a woman who are said to have started farming on a portion of their family lands at Daa, a suburb also in the Bekwai Municipality today March 20,2024 .

The woman was said to have been discharged on an amount of GHS200 whereas the two other men were refused bail because the family said they don’t have such an amount to pay.

Speaking to a brightweb tv reporter,a family member who pleaded anonymously revealed that they tried all they could to ensure that their brothers are granted bail but the police insisted on the aforementioned amount.

The family member further indicated that one woman who married from this same family is claiming ownership of the said portion of land and called for their arrest.

They pleaded with the chief inspector of police IGP, Mr. Akufo Dampare to come to their aid and look into the matter.

On the other hand,they pleaded with His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to help solve the chieftaincy issues in the community, adding that all this is happening because there’s no chief in the community and that is also delaying development in the community.
