“It is sad to note that armed robbery is becoming too rampant on this stretch of Ajumako-Ekumfi-Accra road and [it’s] scaring residents, particularly market women, from engaging in their daily economic activities for their livelihoods,” he stated.

Mr Forson mentioned a case of another armed robbery carried out on Friday on the stretch, leading to the demise of a 36 year old commercial vehicle driver and the gunning down of two policemen who were part of a manhunt team to apprehend the robbers. The MP said this is another reason for authorities to take immediate action to curtail the menace.

“The Commander of the Central Region Police command should mount extra police barriers on the stretch of the road to prevent the re-occurrence of this sad and unfortunate incident and loss of lives and properties,” he suggested.

Hon. Forson used the opportunity to express his condolences to the family of the driver as well while sympathizing with other victims of the road robberies.
