The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akatsi South, Leo-Nelson Adzidogah, who was reported to President Akufo-Addo as a fertilizer smuggler has written back to the President pleading with him to hasten investigations into the allegations.

In a 14th January 2021 letter, Mr. Adzidogah claimed the investigation will establish his innocence and also help the President make up his mind about who to appoint into office to the various positions in government including that of Akatsi South.

“Your Excellency, I am compelled to respectfully put this matter before you for your kind and prompt action to save our party in the constituency. I have decided not to comment on this matter until after the investigation in order not to preempt the outcome. I believe and uphold the sanctity of the truth of God that my innocence will be positively established to expose the wicked agenda of the petitioners…,” he wrote.

The Akatsi South DCE was reported to the President by the leadership of his own party, the NPP in the Akatsi South Municipality.

According to a letter by Patrick Agboyibor, Assistant Constituency Secretary, Kadzaku Mensah, Constituency Youth Organizer and Veronica Sakpaku, Constituency Women’s Organizer, the DCE had been smuggling fertilizer meant for the Planting for Food and Jobs program into Togo to sell for black-market profit.

This together with a host of party-related accusations, including claims that the DCE helps NDC constituents to the neglect of NPP constituents, was used as a basis to demand that the President does not renew his appointment as DCE.
