Akufo-Addo: Ghanaian president picks forms for second term

Ghanaian president Nana Akufo-Addo has picked nomination forms to eye a second term in office.

The Director of Research at the Presidency, Victor Newman, picked the forms on behalf of the president at the ruling New Patriotic Party’s headquarters on Monday.

The ruling party will go to the polls to elect a flagbearer on April 25, 2020.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set April 25, 2020 to elect a presidential candidate for the next general elections, general secretary John Boadu said in a statement Monday.

The party will also hold “hold parliamentary primaries in all the 169 constituencies where the party has sitting MPs to elect its parliamentary candidates for the 2020 General Elections.”

”Ahead of these primaries, the party is cautioning prospective aspirants to DESIST from all forms of campaign activity until nominations are duly opened else they risk being disqualified for flouting party directives,” the statement added.
