Akufo-Addo to NABCO beneficiaries: Help Build a Nation you will be proud of

President Akufo-Addo has urged beneficiaries of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) to “help build a nation that they will be proud of” and ensure the success of all the modules under the employment creation programme.

Addressing the passing out ceremony of 100,000 NABCO beneficiaries in Accra on Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo said the “cynics and pessimists” have been proven wrong “once again”.

He said the coming into force of the Nation Builders Corps is a clear manifestation that his government delivers on its promises.

President Akufo-Addo urged beneficiaries of the National Builders Corps to be hardworking and earn their monthly stipend with merit.

“Your monthly stipend of 700 cedis is not free, you must earn every pesewa of it,” the President said at the Independence Square.

He tasked the graduates to be “dutiful and productive areas they have been assigned and demonstrate on daily basis the confidence reposed in them.

The National Coordinator of NABCO Dr. Anyars Ibrahim said all processes leading to the selection of the 100,000 graduates out of the over 130,000 applications received were transparent, adding the NABCO secretariat had to device means of ensuring that all documents and other relevant information provided by applicants were authentic.

The selected 100,000 recruits who graduated today after several weeks of rigorous training and capacity building in their various chosen modules are expected to exit the programme after three years.


President Akufo-Addo in May this year launched the Nation Builders Corps in Kumasi as an initiative by the government to provide employment for 100,000 unemployed graduates this year. The programme is initially intended to operate seven modules designed to meet the pressing needs of the nation, while providing jobs for the teeming youth who have received tertiary education but are struggling to find jobs. The beneficiaries will be engaged for three years and they are expected to earn a monthly stipend of GH¢700 each. The modules under NABCO are Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Heal Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitise Ghana and Governance Ghana.
