President Akufo-Addo will tinker with his cabinet in the coming weeks following complaints and blistering criticisms he received from one of his daughters, a nephew and some party footsoldiers concerning activities and attitude of some of his ministers. If the hints coming from the Flagstaff House and the President’s bedroom cabinet are anything to go by, it means that a major shake-up that will see many ministers of the Akufo-Addo cabinet dropped is imminent.
The President may drop no fewer than 5 cabinet ministers, while some would be asked to swap portfolios at the turn of the New Year. One highly placed NPP official who works in the Presidency said, the President’s daughter (name withheld) has serious issues with some of her father’s ministers and has reiterated the concerns openly during meetings at her father’s residence.
According to the source, the President’s daughter furiously complained that some persons in his father’s administration have constituted “a government within the government”. The source also disclosed that a nephew of the President has also asked the President to as a matter of urgency, rejig his cabinet, sack as many as possible and appoint those who share in the vision and mission of his administration. He complained bitterly about how cabinet information gets to the opposition and the media and the demeanor of some of the ministers whom he described as unfaithful members of the President’s cabinet.
According to our source, the nephew of the President and a daughter of the President drove two senior members of the party and a minister from the residence of the President over same issues.
In another development, some footsoldiers of the party have called on the President to reshuffle his cabinet. In a statement by the group, the footsoldiers said some of the persons appointed into the administration at the detriment of the footsoldiers. They said, some of the ministers are in the administration to discredit it and further
loot the treasury in their various capacities. The group said activities and practices of such characters is giving the administration and the party bad image before Ghanaians and the international community, but insisted that it must be resisted by the President.
Meanwhile information gathered reveals that some ministers in the current administration have had clashes with the daughter of the President and his nephew over government contracts including lifting of oil from the states oil refinery and (BOST).
