Akwasi Oppong-Fosu: Former Local Government Minister Encourages Youth to Participate in Nation-Building Through Politics
He said the recent protest by Kenyans was due to leadership failure, emphasising that Ghana’s situation is even more precarious.
Former Minister of Local Government under the reign of the Mills/Mahama administration, Hon. Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, has called upon Ghana’s youth to actively participate in the political processes of the country which seeks to make Ghana flourish.
Addressing the University of Education-Winneba (UEW), branch of TEIN-NDC as Special Quest urged the youth of Ghana to help rescue the country from falling into the abyss.
He expressed his sadness and disappointment in a section of the youth, notably NPP members who are enablers of the plunder of national resources by the unflinching support they offer through the media and other forms of information dissemination to a cabal within the NPP who are prioritising their interests at the expense of the nation’s growth and development.
Mr Oppong-Fosu highlighted the potential for positive change that lies in the hands of the youth, stating that desperate Politicians using the youth to propagate false information thus inflicting more hardships on the masses is not a solution to save the country from collapsing.
He encouraged the students to take up the challenge of reforming and revitalizing the political system from within.
He warned that the youth may soon be compelled to defend their interests, considering what is evidently a leadership failure and governance dysfunction, which has resulted in economic mismanagement, unemployment, poverty, and other challenges facing Ghana.
He said the recent protest by Kenyans was due to leadership failure, emphasising that Ghana’s situation is even more precarious.
He cautioned that the battle line is not about TEIN members versus TESCON members but the youth of Ghana against the plunder masterminds riding on the wings of the NPP party in government.
The renowned diplomat and seasoned politician further noted that active participation in politics not only empowers individuals but also contributes significantly to the development and progress of the country.
He indicated that the only solution to end the suffering of Ghanaians is a mass mobilisation of the youth to kick the incumbent NPP out through the ballot box.
He assured that the NDC party under the leadership of John Mahama is committed to rescuing the country from its current predicament through a transformation agenda.
