Ambulance case: Ato Forson requests for live broadcast of proceedings in court

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson has petitioned the Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, requesting for a live broadcast of proceedings in the ongoing ambulance trial.

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame has refuted claims by persons associated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on an allegation made by the third accused person, Richard Jakpa, during proceedings in court on Thursday (23 May) that he (Attorney General) desired his cooperation in the matter in order to secure a conviction of the first accused, Cassiel Ato Forson.

Richard Jakpa, the man suspected to have recorded the AG, is on trial with the former deputy Minister of Finance and Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson, in the ambulance procurement trial with an alleged €2.3 million financial loss to the state.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has since released audio evidence allegedly supporting the claims of the third accused in the ongoing ambulance procurement trial.

In a letter date Thursday (30 May) addressed to the Chief Justice, lawyers of the Minority Leaders said the request is in line with recent development that has impacted the public perception and administration of the case.

“We represent and hold the instructions of Honourable Dr Cassiel Ato Forson (our Client) in respect of the above-referenced case which is pending before the High Court, Accra (Financial and Economic Division 2).”
