The third accused person in the ambulance case, Richard Jakpa, has accused Attorney-General (A-G) Godfred Yeboah Dame of engaging him at odd hours to implicate Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

This came to light during today’s cross-examination by the counsel for the Minority Leader.

Richard Jakpa was earlier cautioned by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe to provide direct answers rather than evading questions and wasting the Court’s time. Reacting to the judge’s caution, Attorney-General Dame accused Jakpa of defending the Minority Leader.

This prompted Jakpa to retort, claiming that the Attorney-General appeared aggrieved because he had previously approached him to help the state build a case against Dr Forson.

“The A-G has on several occasions engaged me at odd hours to help him make a case against A1 and I have evidence for that. If he pushes me, I will open the Pandora’s box. I don’t understand why the A-G will accuse me of defending A1 when I’m here to defend myself,” Jakpa fumed in court.

“If he pushes me, I’ll open the Pandora’s box. I have evidence to all this,” a visibly angry Richard Jakpa indicated to the court.

Jakpa’s explosive accusation stunned the courtroom, including the Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, whose countenance reflected shock and anger.

In an attempt to defuse the situation, Justice Asare-Botwe ordered Jakpa to lower his voice and requested water be brought to him. However, Jakpa refused to drink after accepting the bottle, stating he was too upset.

The case was temporarily adjourned as the judge called for a meeting with the Attorney-General and the lawyers of Dr. Forson.
