Amenfi East: Hundreds including Chiefs Defy Rain to Welcome John Mahama’s Vice Presidential Candidate.
The gathering, which included youth, elders, chiefs, and traditional leaders from various villages, took place at Bodie, the venue of the mini-rally.
Hundreds of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters defied a heavy downpour in Amenfi East on Wednesday to meet Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the party’s vice presidential candidate.
The gathering, which included youth, elders, chiefs, and traditional leaders from various villages, took place at Bodie, the venue of the mini-rally.
Community members were eager to catch a glimpse of Ghana’s first female vice presidential candidate from a major political party.
The iconic umbrella of the NDC served as a symbolic shield for supporters who stood in the rain for hours, with some telling Radio Gold reporter Emmanuel Coffie that the Umbrella was sufficient to protect them from the rain.
Others interpreted the downpour as a blessing, seeing it as a positive sign for the NDC’s chances of retaining the Amenfi East seat.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the chiefs and people of Amenfi East for their ongoing support for the NDC.
She was particularly touched to see traditional leaders defy the rain to attend the event.
In her address, Professor Opoku-Agyemang outlined the NDC’s ambitious plans, which include launching a 24-hour economy program and establishing a women’s development bank to provide accessible loans to women.
She stated that such initiatives would benefit many Ghanaians, including those in Amenfi East, but stressed that their success hinges on voting for NDC flagbearer John Mahama in the upcoming elections.
Nana Kojo Toku, the NDC Western Regional Chairman, also addressed the crowd, urging them to cast their votes for the NDC in honor of Professor Opoku-Agyemang and John Mahama.
“Your time spent in this rain will not be in vain,” he assured the enthusiastic supporters”.
