election2024

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has challenged Members of Parliament (MPs) of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to be bold enough to go for presidential forms to challenge the President, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in their impending presidential primaries.

According to him, he had heard that the President had already picked his forms for the 2020 Presidential primaries, and wondered if there is any courageous man in the NPP to pick forms to challenge him in the Presidential primaries. This attracted laughter and murmur in the House.

He argued that competition was good, stressing that Parliament consisted of people from various diverse backgrounds, and it is in Parliament that the right and wrong are debated. He indicated that parliamentarians will be held accountable for their actions and inactions in their work both inside and outside Parliament. As such, MPs should endeavour to work passionately for the betterment of the lot of all Ghanaians.

While welcoming all back to Parliament and thanking God for seeing them through, the Minority Leader noted that 2020, being an election year, was very critical.
