Defending champions Asante Kotoko thrashed bottom-placed Kotoku Royals 5-1 to move to second place in the Ghana Premier League, one point behind leaders Aduana Stars.

Richmond Lamptey opened the scoring before Mukwala grabbed his brace, scoring in each half. He then set up Ivorian Serge Zeze for the fourth, and Solomon Safo-Taylor scored the fifth for Kotoko.

Kotaku’s best play of the game came in the 29th minute when Kumi scored. They remain in 18th place, 10 points from safety.

Hearts of Oak on Saturday beat Medeama in Tarkwa for the first time in seven years. Kwadwo Obeng Junior scored the only goal for the Phobians, who are now also one point behind Aduana.

Aduana dropped points at home, drawing 1-1 with the impressive Accra Lions in Dormaa.

Berekum Chelsea beat Dreams by a single goal. Great Olympics and Samartex both had similar outcomes against Karela United and King Faisal.

Bibiani Gold Stars defeated Tamale City 3-2 in a five-goal thriller, with striker Abednego Tetteh scoring a brace, including the game-winning goal in the 97th minute.

Bechem United made it two straight wins with a 3-1 win over Legon Cities in Accra.
