The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted the headteachers of seven Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region.

This decision comes in the wake of unauthorized sales of certain items to first-year students during their admission process.

This interdiction follows similar actions against four headteachers in the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions, emphasizing the GES’s commitment to enforcing regulations and ensuring fair practices in schools.

Earlier, the GES had issued a stern warning against the charging of unapproved fees, labelling such actions as illegal and subject to severe disciplinary measures.

Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of Public Relations at GES, emphasized that deviations from agreed-upon guidelines, such as including unauthorized items in prospectuses, would not be tolerated.

“We are cautioning the heads who are going contrary to what we have discussed. We’ve realized that some were adding A4 sheets, mosquito coils and all of that in the prospectus. For us, that was worrying, so we had to caution them to let them know that that wasn’t what we agreed on,” she said.
