Ashanti Regional Minister engages Fire Service on Adum PZ Fire Incident

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has held discussions with the Regional Fire Service Commander and senior officers to assess the response to the recent fire outbreak at Adum PZ in Kumasi. The meeting focused on evaluating the challenges faced during the incident and strengthening fire safety measures in the region.
Dr. Amoakohene expressed his appreciation for the dedication and collaborative efforts of the Fire Service in managing the situation despite initial difficulties. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Service and enhancing fire safety measures to prevent future occurrences.

During the engagement, three key issues were deliberated:

- Formation of a Taskforce and Rapid Response Unit: The Minister proposed the establishment of a dedicated unit comprising personnel from the Fire Service, the Police, and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO). The unit will ensure strict compliance with fire safety regulations and facilitate accessible vehicular routes within the PZ area.
- Personnel Support through YEA and NSS: Dr. Amoakohene pledged to liaise with the relevant authorities to create a program that deploys personnel from the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) to support fire safety education, public engagement, and operational duties.
- Logistical Support: On behalf of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, Dr. Amoakohene assured the Fire Service of the government’s commitment to enhancing their operations with the necessary logistical resources.
