Following the announcement by the Electoral Commission to Organise a by-election in Assin North Constituency on June 27, 2023 , a constituency Executive member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta region, Oscar Komla Bedzra, has advised Constituents of that Constituency not to disappoint the embattled James Gyakye Quayson.
In a statement on his Facebook Post , Oscar Bedzra stated that ‘Dear Assin North Constituents . I believe you are very much wise to make the right choice and that undoubtedly is Hon. Gyakye Quayson. I encourage you to vote massively for him. Do not disappoint him. You have done it before. I believe you will do it again . Thank you all ‘
He urged constituents not to fall for what he described as the ruling NPP’s ‘rushed projects’ citing that these projects will be halted after the by-election.
Oscar Bedzra is however confident that the people of Assin North will not fall for the NPP’s vote buying mechanism as in the case of Kumawu Constituency in which each delegate is given as low as twenty Ghana Cedis (Gh¢ 20. 00)
