Assin North: Charles Opoku wins primaries to represent NPP in impending bye-election
This comes after Parliament declared the Assin North seat vacant following a Supreme Court ruling challenging the eligibility of James Gyakye Quayson to occupy the seat.
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin North constituency has elected Charles Opoku to represent the party in the upcoming June 27th by-election.
Charles Opoku who was beaming with confidence ahead of today’s primaries polled 397 of the valid votes cast count to get the party’s nod in the Assin North by-election.
The other individual who also picked nomination forms to contest the Assin North Constituency parliamentary primary on the ticket of the NPP, Frederick Freeman Amoah-Kyei polled 136 with 3 rejected ballots.
This comes after Parliament declared the Assin North seat vacant following a Supreme Court ruling challenging the eligibility of James Gyakye Quayson to occupy the seat.
The Electoral Commission has since scheduled the by-election for Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
