Assin North: NDC Thank God for Gyakye Quayson

Dressed in an all white apparel with his black goggles to match, Quayson was not only given a tulmonteous welcome, but also mobbed up by his teaming and frenzy supporters for well over ten (10) minutes as he went round greeting the people, thus throwing the programme into an uncontrollable state for that moment.

The rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), last Sunday July 9, 2023 trooped to Assin Breku – the constituency Capital of Assin North in the Central Region to thank God for a peaceful by-election leading to the election of their beleaguered candidate, James Gyakye Quayson as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency. Also, the party had a rally thereafter

Dubbed “Thank you tour” the programme saw all the gurus in the party thronging the Breku Methodist Primary Park amidst, singing trumpeting, drumming, dancing and merry-making.

Clad in white and party colours, the party gurus included, flag bearer and 2024 Presidential Hopeful, John Dramani Mahama; 2020 Vice presidential candidate Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang; Chairman General, Johnson Aseidu Nketiah; National Communications Officer, Sammy Gymafi; Central Regional Chairman, Prof. Kofi Aseidu, MPs and some other National, Regional Constituency Officials, and of course, James Gyakye Quayson, man of the moment. Also present was a retinue of chiefs and queen mothers as well as past appointees of the party.

A Rousing Welcome for Quayson

Comprising pastors from the Local Council of churches, Pastors present prayed fervently for the peaceful and accident free by-election, Hon. Gyakye Quayson the NDC party and its officials as well as the nation.

Presenting the sermon Rev. Sameul Amenyoh, chairman of the Council cited Exodus 17:8-17. Buttressing his sermon with the text, Rev. Amenyoh pointed out that every leader needs the support of all manner of people to enable him rule peacefully, Stressing that leaders need the support of the people to accomplish God’s purpose in their generations.

While stating that leadership is not an easy task, Rev. Amenyoh noted that God is the greatest Leader of all times, and chooses leaders over the people at a time, to serve His purpose. The Reverend Minister charged leaders to endeavor to include all in their reign, stressing that Leaders who fail to do this are bound to fail. In same manner, he charged all to give their support to their leaders for the development of their communities. He noted that now that Hon. Quayson has been chosen as MP for the constituency he becomes MP for all, irrespective of political colour.

The chief of Breku while congratulating Hon. Quayson for his feat appealed to all, especially the District Chief Executive (DCE) to accord him the need cooperation for the development of the constituency. He also asked for the building of bride at Ejanika as well as school for the town so as to prevent school children from walking long distances to attend school.

Nana maintained that everybody was watching Assin North in the aftermath of the by-election. It therefore behooves on all to ply their shoulders to the plough. At its background was the MSC Band, dishing out irresistible and danceable tunes.

The programme was blessed with a heavy down-pour immediately after programme, with people referring to it as showers of blessings.
