Assin North: NPP denies NDC’s claims of abuse of incumbency and vote-buying tactics in by-election

This comes on the back of allegations by the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the NPP was undertaking development projects solely for electoral gain after it recently commissioned the 31.2-kilometre Assin Fosu to Assin Praso stretch, connecting Ahwian Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region to Yamoransa in the Central Region.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has categorically denied claims of abuse of incumbency and vote-buying tactics in the upcoming Assin North by-election.

According to the NPP’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, the Akufo-Addo-led government remains firm in its commitment to developing Assin North and the country at large.

Speaking to Accra-based Citi FM on the back of this, Mr Ahiagbah dismissed the NDC’s claims, stating, “I don’t know how they come to that conclusion but to be honest with you, I think the NDC is struggling. They don’t have a message in Assin North so they are looking for a message, their strategy is lies and they major on minor issues. And when there are no issues they create one.”

“We are interested in developing all of this country, so let’s move on and agree that what has to be done has been done,” he added.
