Assistant Commissioner Christiana Adjei is new sector commander of Tema collection
Assistant Commissioner Adjei is the 26th Sector Commander of the Tema collection of the Ghana Revenue Authority and the first female to be on that seat.
On Friday, 6 January, 2023 Assistant Commissioner, Christiana Odi Adjei took over the command at Tema Collection of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Customs Division from Assistant Commissioner Julius Aweya Kantum who has retired from active service.
Assistant Commissioner Adjei is the 26th Sector Commander of the Tema collection of the Ghana Revenue Authority and the first female to be on that seat.
She had both her Ordinary Level and Advanced level education at the Wesley Girls School, Cape Coast from 1979-1985.
She has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from the University of Ghana – Legon, as well as a Master in Business Administration (MBA) (1999-2001) – Finance (University of Ghana); and Masters in Port and Shipping (2006-2007) at the Regional Maritime University, Ghana.
In 1992-1993 she gained employment into the then Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), and underwent customs and para-military training at the CEPS Academy Kpetoe
She graduated and was posted to SHIA – Ho Collection on the grade of Revenue Assistant III (RAIII). She was later transferred to Tema Collection where she got promoted to Assistant Revenue Officer.
After a few years in Tema as an examination officer, she was transferred to Kotoka International Airport (KIA) where she assumed the position of Second in Charge of the Courier Dome.
In 2003, she was among officers who worked with Destination Inspection companies to give appropriate valuation and classification of goods in accordance with international standards. This she did with Ghana Link Services till in 2005, she was transferred to Kumasi Collection on the rank of Senior Revenue Officer.
She was part of the team which setup the Kumasi Airport Office as a Revenue Collection Seat. In 2006, she got back to Accra to work as a Warehouse supervisor at the Accra Collection, James Town.
Madam Christie, in her quest to gain more knowledge, went to BankSwitch – North Ridge to study more on Valuation and Classification of goods according to the World Customs Organization standards and she was part of the Team which took over that function from the Destination Inspection Companies in 2009.
She later became a Compliance officer at the Tema Long Room on the rank of Principal Revenue Officer after which she held other managerial positions such as Second in Command Shed 10, Officer-in-Charge ACS Terminal and Officer-in-Charge Fishing Harbour.
She got transferred in 2010 as a Chief Revenue Officer to the Customs Headquarters where she worked at the Customs Technical Services Bureau. Notable among the duties she performed at CTSB were Valuation Officer, Quality Assurance Officer, Mentoring and Teaching of officers,
She occupied the Compliance seat at the CTSB, and performed the duties of a Compliance Officer and Supervisor, during the smooth Implementation of ICUMS and assisted officers to quickly learn and use the ICUMS.
She attained the Assistant Commissioner rank in 2020 and held the position of AC Warehousing at the Headquarters till the end of 2021, with oversight of bonded warehouses in Ghana.
In 2022, she became the Sector Commander of the Accra Collection – James Town and in addition to the supervisory role of bonded warehouses, and was in charge of manufacturers and free-zones in Accra operational area.
Stakeholders in the supply chain have welcomed the new Sector Commander of the Tema Collection.
