A shocking revelation has emerged in the oil pump station, as a radio presenter, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, exposes a fuel pump tampering scandal at a GOIL filling station in Atimpoku, in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.

During an undercover investigation, Afrifa-Mensah discovered that attendants at the station had manipulated the fuel pumps to dispense less fuel than customers paid for, despite displaying the correct amount on the dispenser.

He requested an attendant to pump 10 liters of fuel into a regulated container. Upon examination, the container revealed a startling discrepancy: the actual fuel dispensed was significantly less than 10 liters, approximately 5 liters.

“This means the amount of fuel they are stealing is shocking,” Afrifa-Mensah exclaimed. “If you buy fuel worth GH¢1,000, they’re giving you fuel worth less than GH¢500.”

The exposé has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the prevalence of fuel pump tampering in Ghana

This scandal highlights the need for increased vigilance and accountability within the oil industry and the regulator, the National Petroleum Authority, NPA.
